ROCKETBOX QUESTIONS

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Versus standard vibration-only machines, the RocketBox’s patent-pending technology utilizes a combination of a powerful motor and a pneumatic leveling system. This technology allows all vibration frequencies to remain concentrated in the area where the cones are centrally located, versus dispersing the vibrations throughout the machine and causing inconsistencies.

Beginning with the bottom cone tray suspended in air during the entire cycle, the first stage (“filling”) starts by emitting light vibrations which agitate the material, allowing the material to begin evenly layering itself within the cone to avoid empty pockets. The second stage (“packing”) then emits more intense vibrations and a bounce to begin to pack the evenly filled cones. Stage three (“optional final pack”) is a replica of the first stage which operators can use in order to finalize the desired airflow and pack of their cones. Each of these three stages holds 3 fully customizable settings within: PSI (20-90), Motor Speed (1%-100%), and Duration of Cycle to allow the operator to work with a variety of different material types and strains. Aside from a wide range of customizations, the unique RocketBox tray system includes funnels which directly taper inside of the papers below, allowing for better weight accuracy, fill rates, product quality and consistency.

ARE YOU ABLE TO ADJUST WEIGHTS? WHAT IS THE WEIGHT VARIANCE/RANGE?

Yes, you can. The general weight variance is 10% +/-, which we help you dial-in during your on-site training! Each bottom tray size has it’s own range of weights that can be achieved with each paper size. You can dial in the weight by adjusting A. your grind size and B. any of the 3 settings within each of the three stages. For example, dense material may fill in quicker because it is heavier, so in turn you could lessen the duration of the cycle – giving it less time to fill the joints up with more material and weight. Vice versa for a fluffier strain. If you need further assistance, please contact our Client Services department.

HOW MANY CONES DOES THE ROCKETBOX FILL AT ONCE?

RocketBox can fill and pack 453 pre-rolls in 2-3 minutes depending on cone size.  The Mini RocketBox can fill and pack 143 in 45 seconds.

WHAT IS THE ROCKETBOX MADE OF?

The RocketBox is constructed of 304 Food-Grade Stainless Steel, with certain accessories being food-grade and industrial aluminum/plastic. Technical documents and information can also be found here in the STM Dropbox folder.

WHAT IS YOUR PREFERRED CLOSING METHOD? NO TWIST!

While some companies twist the ends, we highly recommend against twisting the crown as it creates issues of canoeing (uneven burning down one side). Because many often twist with their own style, joints can also vary in appearance from one closer to the next as well as become less suitable for packaging. Our preferred method is the Dutch Crown (a flat, almost crown-like appearance) which is both quicker and allows the user to ignite the joint like a cigar for the smoothest, most even burning pre-roll. You can view a video of this method in the training videos section.

WHAT PAPERS ARE COMPATIBLE & CAN I USE ANY BRAND?

What cones are compatible? Each Bottom Tray is designated for a specific industry standard size paper (page 5 on the brochure contains each specific cone’s measurements):

          • .5g/84 MM Bottom Tray = “1-1/4″ Size”
          • .7g/98 MM Bottom Tray = “98 MM Regular” or “98 MM Special”
          • 1g/109 MM Bottom Tray = “King Size”

***Please note, the RocketBox does not typically work with Reefer Sizes, Slim Sizes or most Blunt Papers.

The RocketBox will work with these paper brands: Hara, Raw, Elements and Custom Cones USA.  RocketBox customers have access to purchase papers direct from us at great prices.  These papers are guaranteed to work in either RocketBox.  For more information visit https://stmcanna.com/supply.

WARNING: Be sure to only order papers from a manufacturer’s authorized distributor or directly from the manufacturer itself as bootlegged/fake papers (found very cheap or on marketplaces like Amazon/EBAY) often do not meet or exceed the quality standards required to effectively produce pre-rolls. These papers typically have much stronger deviations from one cone to next and have issues such as unraveling, etc., which can be a significant cause of decreased efficiency in the STM RocketBox. More importantly, these papers are not certified and may contain ingredients that may not be safe for consumption. Use off-brand, bootlegged or poor quality brands at your own risk.

For unique/custom cones:

        • If you have more detailed questions on papers, compatibility, etc., please feel free to reach out to Peyton in our STM Supply cone department and he can walk you through any pre-rolled cone questions you may have. The more information we have the better! You can also ship samples of your cone to our facility for testing and confirmation of possible compatibility.

CAN YOU CONTROL THE VIBRATIONS?

Yes; the motor (vibrations) can be set between 1%-100%…typically on the higher end. The unit comes with a standard sample setting so it’s easy to use that as the standard and they slightly deviate for adjusting to different strains. The PSI also adjusts how much of the tray is absorbing those vibrations and adjusting this from 20-90 helps create the proper pack and bounce you desire as well.

CAN THE MACHINE MAKE CIGARETTES/CYLINDRICAL PRE-ROLLS?

The RocketBox only works with cone-shaped papers. Our proprietary two-tray system is set up so that the cones sit snug in the cone slots in order to remain suspended in air during the cycle, whereas a cigarette/skinny cylinder would fall right through the slot.

Frankly, we avoid cigarettes because while they work great with tobacco due to it’s bone-dry texture, cannabis has moisture content and many variables that cause every strain to pack differently. So even with a machine – adapting to these different material types while effectively packing a joint is extremely difficult. The biggest issue being a proper pack (too many air pockets). Machines claiming to be able to create cannabis cigarettes are typically either custom-made or around $500,000 – but we have yet to see a proven to work machine and that’s why we believe tobacco companies have come directly to use for alternate solutions.

WHAT IS THE BEST GRIND SIZE FOR PRE-ROLLS?

A good general rule of thumb is to have the material mimic the same coarse grind consistency that would result from using a personal hand grinder. With most strains, 4.5mm-5.5mm is the typical particle size that is optimal for joints. A consistent grind is also extremely important to reaching consistency during the production of your joints. Avoid using inconsistently ground material, and when it comes to size, avoid using very powdery, fine material or material with large chunks.  Be sure to sift out your grind removing stems and seeds.

WHAT IS THE IDEAL MOISTURE CONTENT FOR PRE-ROLLS?

A good general rule of thumb is to have the material measure between 7%-10% moisture content in order to have the most effective cycle and the most optimally packed pre-roll.

Try the snowball test. Grab some material into a snowball in palm.  It should hold but also crumble and roll like brown sugar.  If it sticks togther firmly, it may need to dry out a little more.  If it crumbles into a dust, it is too dry.

IS THE MACHINE GMP COMPLIANT/CERTIFIED?

STM takes safety very seriously. While a machine itself cannot be GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certified, our machine is GMP compliant. We follow strict standards to meet OSHA compliance and use only the highest quality, commercial-grade components.

More information: The GMP certification is inclusive for cleanliness in the manufacturing process but more specifically it is in the end-phase of manufacturing. It references the end product as in food (FDA) and Pharmaceuticals and our machine does not fall into those realms. However, at the site that our machine is being physically used, there would be the GMP requirement of a facility that falls within those standards.

WHAT ARE THE POWER REQUIREMENTS?

There are no special power requirements to operate the STM RocketBox. The RocketBox plugs into a standard 110v receptacle (like a home would have). It has a 15 amp breaker but only pulls about 5 amps (similar to a household vacuum). Additional technical documents and information can also be found here in the STM Products Dropbox folder.

HOW DOES THE ROCKETBOX MAKE ME MORE EFFICIENT?

The RocketBox helps you increase your overall margins by decreasing your labor costs and expenses, because time is money.  For example, to do 2500 pre-rolls on our closest competitor’s machine, you would have to run it 25 times.  With the RocketBox, that same volume would be 5.5 times with a better variance.

With the STM RocketBox, you’ll never have to worry about
constant ongoing expenses & headaches, such as:
-Buying New Machines Every Time You Need More Volume ($$)
-Having to Source Plastic and Foam Parts from 3rd Parties Overseas
-Calling Customer Service & Reaching Overseas Call Centers

IS THE MACHINE UL LISTED?

The STM RocketBox machine in it’s entirety is not UL Listed, however, all parts and components of the machine are all OSHA compliant and listed under various listings. Please feel free to review the STM Products Dropbox folder as our RocketBox Listed Components sheet is available there for your reference.

ARE YOUR MACHINES ELECTRICALLY CERTIFIED FOR OPERATION IN CANADA?

Our machines are all up to the proper electrical standards that would allow you to make an appointment to have someone come out to certify your machine once it arrives in your facility. The 3rd party components of the machine are all UL certified or listed under CE or another listing.

MINI ROCKETBOX QUESTIONS

HOW DOES THE STM MINI-ROCKETBOX WORK?

RocketBox patent-pending technology utilizes a powerful combination of a vibrating
motor, pneumatic leveling system and direct funneling system that sets it apart from
all competitors:
– The pneumatic leveling system (built-in PSI) allows the frequencies of vibration
in the Mini-RocketBox to remain concentrated in the area where the cones are
located versus dispersing throughout the unit and causing inconsistencies.

– Whereas competitors drop in and pack the material at the same time (creating
weak necks and air pockets – think game of ‘Tetris’), material in the MiniRocketBox is actually vibrating into each paper in even layers before the packing
begins.

– The direct funneling system (Top & Bottom Tray) funnels material
into the paper directly, thus limiting variance and waste. While sitting
in the Bottom Tray, cones also remain suspended in air during the
entire cycle from start to finish versus being forcefully hit from below
to pack.

ARE YOU ABLE TO ADJUST WEIGHTS?

Yes. Each Bottom Tray is for a designated paper size and includes a range of
achievable weights in each paper (see Page 5).

While there are less customizations available than the RocketBox, the MiniRocketBox does allow the operator to alter weights by adjusting both the motor
speed dial and by following the general bulk density tips and tricks supplied by STM.

REVOLUTION GRINDER QUESTIONS

WALK ME THROUGH THE PROCESS?

1. Choose desired speed (low/med/high) for auger and (low/med/high) for blade system. Initiate Start/Stop on the touch screen control panel and pour up to four 5-gallon buckets of material into the hopper, where the auger system will then pull the material down into the blade chamber.

2. Material is cut by STM’s proprietary, highly-polished stainless steel serrated dual-blade system before falling through 1 of 2 interchangeable particle screens (fine 2 MM-3 MM or coarse 4.5 MM-5.5 MM).

3. As material reaches the optimal size and exits the screen, the anti-clogging agitator chute creates vibrations which push the final product down and out for easy collection into a bin below.

IS THERE DUST/KIEF COLLECTION SYSTEMS AND/OR ARE THERE A LOT OF PARTICULATE SPOUT IN THE AIR?

The STM Revolution is fully enclosed in 304 Stainless Steel and is very effective in limiting any particulates being spout into the air.

    1. Once you place the material in the hopper, you would simply close the hopper lid and press go. The material enters through this enclosed hopper and cycles through the entire system without any place for exposure until the material exits the chute into collection bin.
    1. Our system also does not pulverize the material in a way that knocks off a heavy amount of trichomes – which a lot of time creates lots of kief and upends more particle ‘dust’ escaping into the air.
    1. We recommend using a 27 gallon collection bin with a lid to place under the chute, and you can even cut a quick hole in side of the bin for the chute so that the material exits the machine and goes straight into a fully enclosed bin as well.

DOES THE SYSTEM CREATE ANY HEAT?

Heat and friction may occur in the case of a clog, but would not generally apply in standard use due to the application of a lower RPM. Many competitors do operate at an significantly high RPM (upwards of 25,000-37,000 RPM) temperatures can begin to evaporate and damage terpenes and cannabinoids during the standard grinding process.

WHAT IS THE SPEED THROUGHPUT?

The STM Revolution is equipped with both a hopper and chute for a continuous feed, allowing 50 lbs. +/- per hour or up to 400 +/- pounds to filter through the system per day, depending on the material type.

WHAT SIZE BUDS CAN FIT THROUGH THE GRINDER?

The ideal size of a particle or piece of bud for use in the STM Revolution is 2″ inches or less. Because the throat of the hopper is around 3″ inches in diameter, pieces entering the machine larger than 2″ inches may cause clogging or a blockage in the system.

WHAT ARE THE POWER REQUIREMENTS?

The STM Revolution plugs into a 220v receptacle. Technical documents and information can also be found here in the STM Products Dropbox folder.

IS THE MACHINE UL LISTED?

The STM Revolution machine in it’s entirety is not UL Listed, however, all parts and components of the machine are all OSHA compliant and listed under various listings. Please feel free to review the STM Products Dropbox folder as our Revolution Listed Components sheet is available there for your reference.

WHAT IS THE MACHINE MADE OF?

The Revolution is constructed of 304 Food-Grade Stainless Steel. Technical documents and information can also be found here in the STM Products Dropbox folder.
