How the Astro Infuser 2.0 Works

The Astro Infuser 2.0 automates hash hole and internal concentrate infusion across a 72-count tray, with programmable control over dose, temperature and where the concentrate core is placed inside each pre-roll.

1. Load the Tray
Place filled pre-rolls into the Astro tray and position it in the machine.

2. Set Your Recipe
Set concentrate amount, temperature, and where the internal concentrate core starts and stops.

3. Inject 12 at a Time
Twelve individually regulated syringe-and-needle chambers inject concentrate simultaneously.

4. Run the Automated Infusion Cycle
The system repeats across the tray, completing all 72 pre-rolls in about 60 seconds.

What is a hash hole or donut joint?

A hash hole, also commonly called a donut joint, is an infused pre-roll with a concentrated core of rosin or another compatible cannabis concentrate running through the center of the flower. As it burns, the concentrate creates the distinctive center opening the format is known for.

Why are hash holes difficult to make at scale?

Traditional hash holes are labor-intensive because the concentrate core must be positioned through the center of the flower. Maintaining consistent dose, placement and finished product quality becomes increasingly difficult as production volume grows.

The Astro Infuser 2.0 automates much of that process by injecting compatible concentrate directly into filled pre-rolls with programmable control over concentrate amount and core placement.

Can the Astro Infuser make hash holes and donut joints?

Yes. The Astro Infuser 2.0 creates a continuous internal concentrate core inside a filled pre-roll. Operators can control the concentrate amount and where the core starts and stops within the machine's protected injection range.

What concentrates work with the Astro Infuser 2.0?

The Astro Infuser 2.0 is designed for compatible concentrates including rosin, live resin and distillate, along with other concentrates that become sufficiently flowable when heated.

The reservoir and manifold can be temperature controlled up to 198°F. Many concentrates tested by STM operate around 120°F to 125°F, depending on the material.

How much concentrate can the Astro inject into each pre-roll?

Operators can program concentrate doses from approximately 0.05 g to 3.2 g per pre-roll, depending on the product and recipe being produced.

Can I control where the concentrate core is positioned?

Yes. Operators can program where the concentrate core starts and stops inside the pre-roll, allowing the position and length of the core to be adjusted.

Built-in upper and lower limits help keep concentrate away from the crutch and the open end of the cone.

What size pre-rolls can the Astro Infuser run?

The current Astro Infuser 2.0 configuration supports 84 mm through 109 mm cones. Additional sizes may be added after testing and validation.

Can production settings be saved for different products?

Yes. The Astro can store up to 20+ production recipes. Recipes can save settings including the recipe name, concentrate temperature, concentrate amount and distribution position inside the pre-roll.

What utilities does the Astro Infuser require?

The Astro Infuser 2.0 operates on standard 110V power at 15A and requires surge protection and a 1500 VA UPS backup. It does not require compressed air or nitrogen.
